Free one-hour experiences that spark learning and bring families together.
Empower Hours are hands-on, community-centered learning sessions hosted by Burns Bright Homeschool Haven. Each one-hour event is designed to give kids a chance to explore, create, and discover — using materials from our Binnovations Library and guided by caring volunteers.
From microscopes and puzzles to art and ASL, every Empower Hour brings something new to the table — all free, all fueled by community spirit.
How It Works
Empower Hours are free, one-hour themed learning experiences designed to spark curiosity, connection, and creativity in every child. Each session blends hands-on exploration with real learning — all built from materials in our Binnovations Library and guided by caring community volunteers.
Whether you’re a homeschool family, a co-op, or a small community group, Empower Hours are flexible and fun for everyone. You can schedule a private session for your group or join one of our public events at local libraries and community spaces.

Step into the fascinating world of discovery! Kids will use real microscopes and magnifiers to observe the hidden details of everyday objects — from plant cells to insect wings. This hands-on session encourages curiosity, scientific thinking, and observation skills. Perfect for young explorers who love to ask “What’s that?”

A fun and engaging introduction to American Sign Language! Families will learn basic signs, the alphabet, and simple everyday phrases through games and interactive practice. This Empower Hour celebrates connection, inclusion, and the beauty of expression beyond words — great for all ages and communication styles.

From brain teasers and matching challenges to group logic activities, this session is all about working together and thinking in new ways. Laughter, learning, and a few “aha!” moments guaranteed.

Let imagination run wild with an hour of hands-on art! Students will explore color, texture, and design using materials from The Haven’s Binnovations Library. Each session focuses on creativity and expression rather than perfection — helping kids discover the joy of making something that’s uniquely theirs.

A soothing, sensory-rich experience designed for kids who learn best through touch and movement. Stations may include texture play, light exploration, and mindful movement. Perfect for neurodiverse learners and families who value calm, hands-on engagement that supports focus, regulation, and creativity.

Pack your curiosity and “travel” with us through the United States! Each session highlights a new state with stories, geography challenges, and cultural discoveries. Kids will explore landmarks, foods, and traditions while gaining a deeper appreciation for the world around them. Learning has never been this adventurous!

Celebrate the seasons with themed Empower Hours full of creativity, reflection, and fun! From gratitude crafts and holiday kindness projects to snowy science experiments and New Year goal-setting, these sessions bring families together to enjoy meaningful moments that connect learning with life.

Each Empower Hour lasts about 60 minutes and can accommodate up to students comfortably (depending on the theme and location).

A Few Notes Before You Book
All Empower Hours are completely free, made possible through our community partners and the Life Burns Bright nonprofit initiative.
Sessions are booked based on availability, and times fill up fast — so be sure to schedule early!
If your group would like to host regularly, we can set up a recurring schedule!
